Week of September 23rd, 2019

Reminders:

1). Grades 6 and 7 will be going to Fr. Marc on Monday, September 23rd. 

2). There is a Home Academy Association Meeting on Wednesday, September 25th, at 7:00 P.M. 

3). Band Registration forms are due on Thursday, September 26th.

 

5th Grade

The class will continue their study of the First Americans.  They will be explaining how geographic factors influenced the migration of people from Asia to North America.  They will be describing how the first Americans used natural resources to meet their needs.  Lastly, they will be identifying the early people of North America.

9/20: Quiz- signed and corrected.

9/23: Finish creating sentences for the vocabulary words on page 56.  The class will be playing Pick the Pic and the  Sentence Games tomorrow.

9/25: STUDY! Jeopardy- Tuesday and Test- Wednesday: “The First Americans” on pages 56-59.  15 Jeopardy questions are due on Tuesday.

9/26: STUDY! The class will be playing Three Strikes and You’re Out tomorrow!

6th Grade

This week, The students will begin their study of how people adapted to their societies during the Stone Age. They will be exploring how technology led to the expansion and survival of early civilizations.  The class will discuss how hunting and gathering cause early people to become nomads. Lastly, the students will analyze how people survived the Ice Ages.

9/20: Illustrated Journal Topic is due on Monday!

9/23: Create riddles for the vocabulary words on pages 54-61.  Make sure that your illustrations are completed because the class will be playing the Vocabulary and Riddle Games tomorrow!

9/26: Finish creating the outline on “The Paleolithic Age” on pages 56-59.

STUDY! Jeopardy- Wednesday and Test- Thursday: “Hunter-Gathers” on pages 54-61. 20 Jeopardy questions are due on Wednesday.

 

7th Grade

This week, the students will continue their study of early Native American societies. They will be discussing that many Native American cultures developed across the different geographic regions of North America.  They will also be exploring how geographic areas influenced Native American cultures.  Lastly, the students will be exploring the Native American religion.

9/23: Finish outlining “Early Societies” on pages 10-11.  Create one discussion question for each society that was mentioned in the reading.

9/24: Worksheet- “Native American Cultures” 

 9/25:    STUDY! Quiz- Monday: “Native American Cultures” on pages 10-15. 10 Dart Game questions are due on Friday.

9/26: STUDY! Dart Game questions are due tomorrow!

8th Grade

This week, the students will continue the study of the Civil War.  They will be focusing on how Union and Confederate forces fought for control of Virginia. They will be discussing how the Battle of Antietam gave the North a slight advantage.  Lastly, the class will be analyzing how the Confederacy attempted to break the Union naval blockade.

9/23-9/27: The students will be working with partners to create a Front Page News Project on The War in the East.  They will be using their Chromebooks during social studies class to research and write the articles.  Each Front Page News Project must consist of three articles (War in the East, Battle of Antietam, Breaking the Union’s Blockade), one interview (Thomas Stonewall Jackson or Robert E. Lee), and an ad (something that would interest either southerners or northerners).

9/24: Section 2 Assessment- page 521 #s1-4 is due typed on Friday.  This assignment will be collected and graded!

9/25:  Test must be signed and corrected.

           Typed articles and interview are due on Monday, October 1st.

9/26: Section Assessment is due tomorrow!

Religion

This week the class will be discussing the ways that we get to know God. They will be learning about God’s self-Revelation through His creation, through the Bible, and in his Son, Jesus Christ.

9/24: Worksheet- “Divine Revelation” (Use pages 22-23 to help  you complete the worksheet.)

9/26:  Pages 28-30 are due completed on Tuesday.

STUDY! Jeopardy-Thursday and Test- Friday: “Gods Revelation” on pages 20-30.  15 Jeopardy questions are due on Wednesday.  

9/27: STUDY!
