Week of October 8th-October 12th

Reminders:

1). There will be no school on Monday, October 8th-Columbus Day.

2). TerraNova testing begins on Tuesday, October 9th-Monday, October 15th. Make up days will be taking place until Friday, October 19th.

3). We will be having a $2.00 purple Dress Down Day on Wednesday, October 10th, to support those affected by Lupus. All of the proceeds will go towards the Lupus Walk on Saturday, October 13th.

 

Grade 5- For the days that we will meet, the students will be working in their Ready New York CCLS  English Language Arts books. They will be focusing on identifying two or more main ideas in a text, explaining how the ideas are supported by key details in the text, and identifying which details support which main idea.  They will also be drawing evidence from informational texts to support analysis and reflection. The theme that we will be focusing on is “Stars and Planets”.

Homework for Monday, October 9th:

*Get your spelling quiz signed, and make corrections (if needed).

*There will be no written homework for the week due to the TerraNova exams; (this is TENTATIVE) however, I would like you to read 20 (or more) minutes each day. Remember the more you read, the better you will do with all skills in ELA.

*Please bring in a snack for each day this week; be sure to have sharpened #2 pencils as well.

Grade 6- For the days that we will meet, the students will be finishing their “Photo Album” projects; they will also be working in their Ready New York CCLS  English Language Arts books. They will be focusing on determining a central idea of a text as well as identifying how a central idea is conveyed through particular details. The theme that we will be focusing on is “Extraordinary Plants”. 

Homework for Monday, October 9th:

*Get your spelling quiz signed, and make corrections (if needed).

*There will be no written homework for the week due to the TerraNova exams (this is TENTATIVE); however, I would like you to read 20 (or more) minutes each day. Remember the more you read, the better you will do with all skills in ELA.

Grade 7- For the days that we will meet, the students will be working in their Ready New York CCLS  English Language Arts books. They will be focusing on determining two or more stated or implied central ideas of an informational text.  They will also be analyzing how facts, details, and other evidence develop a central idea. The theme that we will be focusing on is “Careers”. 

Religion- The students will continue focusing on Chapter 2: “The Truth Revealed”. They will be discussing how the truth is handed down in Tradition and how the Church lives by the truth.

Homework for Monday, October 9th:

1). Get your spelling quiz signed, and make corrections (if needed).

2). Make sure the questions from the handout in Religion are completed!

3). Get your Religion exam signed, and make corrections (if needed).

Grade 8- For the days that we will meet, the students will be finishing their Netflix projects and working in their Ready New York CCLS  English Language Arts books. They will be focusing on determining the central idea of an informational text. They will also be analyzing how facts details, and other evidence develop a central idea and the relationship between a central idea and supporting details.
