Week of October 8th, 2018

Reminders:

1). There will be no school on Monday, October 8th-Columbus Day.

2). TerraNova testing begins on Tuesday, October 9th-Monday, October 15th. Make up days will be taking place until Friday, October 19th.

3). We will be having a $2.00 purple Dress Down Day on Wednesday, October 10th, to support those affected by Lupus. All of the proceeds will go towards the Lupus Walk on Saturday, October 13th.

5th Grade

For the days that we will meet, the students will be examining the lives of the Ancient Indians.  They will be describing the type of settlements these ancient peoples lived in.  Lastly, they will be exploring the impact that technology and agriculture had on the Indians.

*There will be no written homework for the week due to the TerraNova exams.

10/9: Quiz- signed and corrected

10/11: STUDY! Three Strikes and You’re Out! Please review the vocabulary and the outlines we did on “Ancient Indians” pages 62-64.  

10/12: STUDY! Quiz- Thursday: “Ancient Indians” on pages 62-67. 10 Dart Game questions are due on Wednesday.

 

6th Grade

 For the days that we will meet, the class will be focusing on the Agricultural Revolution.  They will be discussing how farming changed people‚Äôs lives and examining what life was like during  the Neolithic Age.  Lastly, the students will be exploring the characteristic of these early civilizations.

*There will be no written homework for the week due to the TerraNova exams.

10/11: STUDY! Dart Game- Wednesday and Quiz- Thursday: “The Agricultural Revolution” on pages 62-69. 10 Dart Game questions are due on Wednesday.

10/12: STUDY!

 

7th Grade

For the days that we will meet, the students will continue their study of Europe before transatlantic travel.  They will be exploring the Greek and Roman forms of government.  Then they will be discussing the Middle Ages and the impact the Renaissance had on Europe.  

10/9: Section Assessment- signed and corrected

10/11: Finish creating the rough draft of your Middle Ages and Renaissance Cartoon.

 

8th

For the days that we will meet, the students will continue their study of the Civil War.  They will be analyzing what daily life was like for civilians and soldiers during the war.  They will be also be discussing the causes and effects of the Emancipation Proclamation and how African Americans participated in the war.  Lastly, the class will be discussing the opposition President Lincoln faced during  this point of the Civil War. 

10/9: Quiz- signed and corrected

10/11: Create riddles for the Key Terms and People on page 528.  Make sure your illustrations are completed because the class will be playing the Vocabulary Game tomorrow.

Religion

For the days that we will meet, the class will be focusing on the stories of creation and that God is the source of all life. The students will be working in groups to create skits on the First Story of Creation.
