Week of October 21st-October 25th

Reminders:

1). The winter uniform begins on Monday, October 21st.

2). The TerraNova exam will continue on Monday, October 21st. 

3). There is a $2.00 Dress Down Day on Tuesday, October 22nd. 

4). Progress Reports will be sent out on Tuesday, October 22nd.

5). Progress Reports are due back on Thursday, October 24th.

6). The cheesecake sale ends on Friday, October 25th.

*All grades should have another novel to read during SSR. You may choose any genre.*

 

Grade 5- This week, the students will be working on their Apple i-Phone Trimester One book report projects.  They will be designing six applications accompanied by application names that focus on the most important parts of the beginning, middle, and end of their books.  They will also be following specific steps (detailed rubric) in order to develop a solid book summary; they will be editing and revising their work, and typing a final draft on their Chromebooks. 

Tentative Homework Schedule:

Monday, October 21st- 1). Read for 20 minutes; no written reading log is required.

Tuesday, October 22nd- 1). Be sure your reading log is completed from class. 2). Finish the rough draft of your six applications and titles! Tomorrow you will begin your final draft! Bring in any supplies you need to design your i-Phone!

Wednesday, October 23rd- 1). Read for 20 minutes; no written reading log is required. 

Thursday, October 24th- 1). Finish your rough draft of your book summary; edit and revise the way I showed you (use a different color pen); be sure to follow the rubric (what is needed in the introduction, body, and conclusion); remember to use the NYS Writing Rubric as a guide; tomorrow you will be typing your final draft on your Chromebook.

Wednesday, October 23rd- 1). Your iPod project must be finished today! Please be sure it is completed; tomorrow you will begin working on your rough draft of your writing. 2). Read for 20 minutes; no written reading log is required. 

Thursday, October 24th- 1). Finish your rough draft of your book summary; edit and revise the way I showed you (use a different color pen); be sure to follow the rubric (what is needed in the introduction, body, and conclusion); remember to use the NYS Writing Rubric as a guide; tomorrow you will be typing your final draft on your Chromebook. 

 

Grade 7- This week, the students will continue working on their movie poster Trimester One book report projects.  They will be creating a movie posters that focus on an illustration and title which completely represents the central idea of their novels. They must creatively think of a director, producer, production company, release date, etc., based on important parts of their novel. They will also be following specific steps (detailed rubric) in order to develop a solid book summary; they will be editing and revising their work, and typing a final draft on their Chromebooks.

Grade 8- This week, the students will be working on their restaurant menu Trimester One book report projects.  They will be creating a menu that focus on important aspects of the novel they have read.  Their restaurant name, logo, address, phone number, and food items must represent their novel in a creative way.  Lastly, they will also be following specific steps (detailed rubric) in order to develop a solid book summary; they will be editing and revising their work, and typing a final draft on their Chromebooks.

Monday, October 21st- 1). Read for 20 minutes; no written reading log is required.

Tuesday, October 22nd- 1). Be sure your reading log is completed from class; the reading log consisted of the science article today; summarize! Just a reminder that everyone needs a NEW book for SSR; please have one tomorrow IF you did not have one today. 

Wednesday, October 23rd- 1). Menu cover and items on Google Docs must be completed; tomorrow you will begin working on your rough draft of your writing. 2). Read for 20 minutes; no written reading log is required.
