In Chapter 1, students will:

Grammar:  This Monday, the students will review compound sentences and the four kinds of sentences, identify complex sentences and their subordinating conjunctions, write subordinating conjunctions to complete complex sentences, write complex sentences, identify fragments and run-ons, rewrite run-on sentences, correct fragments and run-ons, and write subjects or predicates to make fragments complete.

Reading/Writing: 

The students will be reading an article from the magazine Storyworks called “America’s Deadliest Disaster.”  They will examine how the author uses descriptive details to help readers understand what a terrible disaster was like.  They will write their own narratives using descriptive details.

The students will continue reading The Legend of Sleepy Hollow retold  from Washington Irving independently and write another Reading Response.

 

Math:  In Chapter 2, students will:
