Week of May 20th, 2019

Reminders:

1). Summer uniform begins on Monday, May 20th.

2). Grade 8 will be taking the NYS Science Exam on Wednesday, May 22nd. 

3). Friday, May 24th, school is closed-Faculty Retreat.

4). There is no school on Monday, May 27th-Memorial Day.

6). Grade 8 Social Studies Final exam will be on Friday, May 31st.

7). Religion Final-Thursday, June 6th.

8). Grades 5,6, and 7 will be taking their Social Studies Final Exam on Monday, June 10th.

5th Grade

  This week the students will be discussing the factors that led to the American Revolution.  They will be analyzing the causes and effects of the Stamp Act and the Boston Massacre.  They will be exploring the development of representative government in the United States.  Lastly, the class will be identifying roles women played in the Revolution.

6th Grade

 This week the students will be continuing their study of ancient Greece.  They will be focusing on Sparta and Athens and why they were city-state rivals.  They will be analyzing Sparta’s military and Athen’s government.  Lastly, they will be discussing how Athens differed from other city-states.

5/20: Finish creating illustrations for the vocabulary words on pages 183-189.  The class will be playing the Vocabulary Game tomorrow.

5/21: Worksheet Packet is due on Thursday. Must have “Political Changes” and “Sparta: A Military Society” completed for tomorrow!

5/23: The class will be taking an open book quiz on “Athens and Sparta: City-State Rivals”.

 

7th Grade

  Over the next few weeks the students will be reviewing for the final by creating a board game on all of the topics we studied in Social Studies class this year.  They will be creating questions based on information from the Final Review Sheet.  They will be working with partners, and they will be following a detailed rubric. 

5/20 The class will be taking an exam today on the U.S. Constitution.

           Test must be signed and corrected.

5/21: Rough draft and directions for your board game are due tomorrow.

 

8th Grade

5/20: All 80 questions for your board game are due tomorrow!

Religion

 Over the next few weeks the students will be reviewing for the final by creating a song on all of the topics we studied in Religion class this year.  They will be using the information from the final review sheet as a guide to help them create their lyrics .  They will be working with partners, and they will be following a detailed rubric.
