Week of May 28th-June 1st

Reminders:

1). Wednesday, May 30th, will be $2 NUT Day to raise money for a new statue of the Blessed Mother.

Grade 5- This week, the students will be identifying “Interjections”; they will be working in their Ready New York CCLS English Language Arts books and focusing on five specific interjections that are used to: A). show a mistake, B). to show shock or another thought, C). to show a thought or discovery, D). to show happiness or excitement, and E). to show relief.  Next, the students will begin working on a “Final Review Game”.  With a partner or group, the students must develop a creative game that incorporates all aspects of their final review sheet;  they will be following a detailed rubric throughout this project.  

Monday, May 28th- Today is Memorial Day; school is closed.

Tuesday, May 29th– 1). Write ten sentences using interjections; use the chart on page 273 in the Ready New York CCLS English Language Arts book to help you with your sentences! Underline or highlight the interjection in each sentence.

Wednesday, May 30th- 1). Complete a written reading log.  2). Study for the final exam!

Thursday, May 31st- 1). Complete a written reading log.  2). Study for the final exam!

Grade 6- This week, the students will be identifying the difference between a denotation and a connotation; they will be also identifying positive and negative connotations. Next, they will begin working on a “Final Review Game”.  With a partner or group, the students must develop a creative game that incorporates all aspects of their final review sheet;  they will be following a detailed rubric throughout this project.

Grade 7- This week, the students will begin working on a “Final Review Game”.  With a partner or group, the students must develop a creative game that incorporates all aspects of their final review sheet;  they will be following a detailed rubric throughout this project.  

Religion- This week, the students will begin working on their “Religion Song Project”; the students must use their final review sheet to develop a song based on a beat from a real song. They will be using a rubric for this project, too.

Wednesday, May 30th- 1). Complete Ready New York CCLS ELA (thin book) pages 32-34: “The Aqua-Lung-Bringing Ocean Exploration to New Depths”; remember to support your answers with two details! 2). Study for the final exam!

Thursday, May 31st- 1) Complete Ready New York CCLS ELA (thin book) pages 62-64: “Did Franklin Really Collect Electric Fire from the Sky?”; don’t forget to use process of elimination.  2). Study for the final exam! 2). Get your Chapter 9 Religion Exam signed, and make corrections.

Grade 8- This week, the students will be reviewing for their ELA Final Exam; they will continue making their own study sheets based on their final review handout; we will be playing Jeopardy on Wednesday, May 30th, to review all topics as well.

Tuesday, May 29th– 1). Study for “Final Jeopardy”! 

Wednesday, May 30th- 1). Study for the final exam! Our last “Basketball Jeopardy” is today. 

Thursday, May 31st-  1). No homework; the “ELA Final Exam” is today.
