Week of May 27th-May 31st

Reminders:

1). Grades 5,6, and 7 will begin their final review projects. 

2). Friday, May 24th, school is closed-Faculty Retreat.

3). There is no school on Monday, May 27th-Memorial Day.

4). Grade 8 ELA Final Examination will be on Wednesday, May 29th.

5). 7th Grade Religion Final-Thursday, June 6th.

6). Grades 5,6, and 7 will be taking their ELA Final Exam on Thursday, June 13th.

 

Grade 5-This week, the students will be discussing and brainstorming ideas for their final review project; they will be creating a board game that will incorporate 70 questions, focusing on all aspects on their final review sheet.  The students will be given a detailed rubric to follow throughout the project.  *They will be completing homework for the week based on Unit 6 vocabulary words; these words will not be on the final examination.* 

Tentative Homework/Testing Schedule:

Monday, May 27th- Today is Memorial Day; school is closed.

Tuesday, May 28th- 1). Read pages 56-57 in the Common Core Enriched Edition Vocabulary Workshop book.  Carefully read each vocabulary word on pages 58-59; read each sentence carefully, and write the word on each blank line.  Write sentences using each word. 2). Get Unit 5 Vocabulary Quiz signed, and make corrections. 

Wednesday, May 29th- 1). Common Core Enriched Edition Vocabulary Workshop book pages 60-61: “Match the Meaning”, “Synonyms”, and “Antonyms”.

Thursday, May 30th- 1). Common Core Enriched Edition Vocabulary Workshop book pages 62 and 63: “Completing the Sentence” and “Word Study”; review the meaning of a suffix at the top of the page, carefully read the chart, and work on “Practice”, “Apply”, and “Write”; follow the directions!

Upcoming Exam: ELA Final Examination-Thursday, June 13th (Jeopardy-June 12th)

Wednesday, May 29th- 1). Common Core Enriched Edition Vocabulary Workshop book pages 75-top of 77: “Choosing the Right Word”, “Synonyms”, and “Antonyms”. 

Thursday, May 30th- 1). Common Core Enriched Edition Vocabulary Workshop book pages 77-79: “Completing the Sentence” and “Vocabulary in Context”. You do not have to complete the “Writing: Words in Action”.

Read pages 88-89: <First-Person Narrative> “Everything Happens, Happens as it Should” in the Common Core Enriched Edition Vocabulary Workshop book; use context clues to try to figure out the meanings of the boldfaced words.  Next, carefully read each vocabulary word on pages 90-93; read each sentence, and write each word on the blank line.  Write a sentence using each word.   2). Get Unit 5 Vocabulary Quiz signed, and make corrections.

Grade 8- This week, the 8th grade will be playing “Basketball Jeopardy” on Tuesday, May 28th, to review for their ELA Final Examination.  They will be taking their ELA Final Examination on Wednesday, May 29th. *60 JEOPARDY QUESTIONS ARE DUE ON TUESDAY, MAY 28TH.*

Monday, May 27th- Today is Memorial Day; school is closed. “Basketball Jeopardy” tomorrow to review for the ELA Final Examination; study! 60 Jeopardy questions are due typed for tomorrow!

Tuesday, May 28th- 1).”Basketball Jeopardy” today to review for the ELA Final Examination; study for the final!

Wednesday, May 29th- 1). ELA Final Examination today!

Thursday, May 30th- 1). There is no written homework today.
