5th Grade

  This week the students will be discussing the factors that led to the American Revolution.  They will be analyzing the causes and effects of the Stamp Act and the Boston Massacre.  They will be exploring the development of representative government in the United States.  The class will also be identifying roles women played in the Revolution. Lastly, the class will be identifying the causes and effects of the Boston Tea Party, the Intolerable Acts, and the Battles at Lexington and Concord.

 Over the next few weeks the students will be reviewing for the final by creating a board game on all of the topics we studied in Social Studies Class this year.  They will be creating questions based on information from the Final Review Sheet.  They will be working with partners, and they will be following a detailed rubric.

6/1: Test- signed and corrected.

6/4: Finish reading “The Road to War” on pages 288-292.  Then answer the questions on the worksheet.  This assignment will be collected and graded as a Journal Topic!

6/5: Bring in index cards for your board game questions.

STUDY FOR YOUR FINAL EXAM!

6th Grade

 Over the next few weeks the students will be reviewing for the final by creating a board game on all of the topics we studied in Social Studies Class this year.  They will be creating questions based on information from the Final Review Sheet.  They will be working with partners, and they will be following a detailed rubric.

The students will also be working on a current events assignment.  They will have to locate two news articles: one national article and one international article.  These articles must discuss political/government, environmental, religious, economic, or health issues. They will be answering questions and explaining why the articles are newsworthy.  Lastly, the students will be presenting their current events.

6/1: Current Events- Two new articles are due on Tuesday (one national and one international). These articles must be read, highlighted, and vocabulary must be defined by Tuesday!

6/4: Current Event Articles are due tomorrow! They must be read, highlighted, and vocabulary defined!

6/5: The class will be working on their current event assignment in class today.  This assignment must be completed for homework! Be ready to present tomorrow!
