Week of December 9th-December 13th

Reminders:

1). School is closed on Monday, December 9th- Immaculate Conception

2). Children’s Vendor Sale-Wednesday, December 11th

3). $2.00  Dress Down Day-Thursday, December 12th

4). Class novels will begin after the Christmas break.

 

Grade 5- This week, the students will continue working on their post reading/writing activity- “The Newest Dinosaur” project. They will be following a detailed rubric throughout the project and using their Chromebooks for the writing portion of the project. The students will also be taking a quiz on the biography- “The Dinosaurs of Waterhouse Hawkins”.

Tentative Homework/Testing Schedule:

Monday, December 9th- 1). School closed-Immaculate Conception 2). Quiz tomorrow-“The Dinosaurs of Waterhouse Hawkins”-review the vocabulary words and comprehension questions.

Tuesday, December 10th- 1). Complete a written reading log. 2). Bring in any materials you may need for your dinosaur creation!

Wednesday, December 11th- 1). Complete a written reading log. 

Thursday, December 12th- 1). Complete a written reading log. 2). Be ready to type your final draft of your “Newest Dinosaur” writing! All rough drafts must be done!

Grade 7- This week, the students will begin working on a post reading/writing activity- diary entries based on the expository essay-“Life Without Gravity”; they will be using text details, research, and background knowledge to write their entries. The students will be following a detailed rubric for this assignment and using their Chromebooks as well. 

Religion

  When the classes are not practicing for the Christmas Show, the 6th and 7th grade students will be working together in groups to create student made tests on Advent and Christmas.  They will be using their Chrome-books and following a detailed rubric to complete this assignment

Grade 8- This week, the students will be working on creating an interview between themselves and a former slave-based on the narrative essay-from “Harriet Tubman: Conductor On the Underground Railroad”; they will be using text details, research, and background knowledge to develop their interviews. They will be following a detailed rubric for this assignment, too.
