1). Advent School Mass will take place on Monday, December 17th.
2). The Christmas Vendor Sale is on Tuesday, December 18th. The 6th and 3rd graders will be going at 9:50 a.m.
3). Our Christmas Spectacular is on Thursday, December 20th; the times for the show are 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
4). Breakfast with Santa will take place on Friday, December 21st; this is also an 11:00 a.m. dismissal.

The students will begin their study of New France. They will be exploring where and why the French explored and settled in North America. They will also be discussing the conflicts the French had with the English, Dutch, and Spanish. Lastly, the students will be identifying French explorers of the Americas and their contributions.

This week the students will begin their study of ancient Egypt. They will begin by analyzing the geography/location of Egypt. They will be discussing the importance of the Nile River and how it impacted the development of ancient Egypt. Lastly, the students will be analyzing how Egypt became united.
12/17: Finish the worksheet “Time and Place”. Use the map and time line on pages 97-99 to help you answer the questions.
This week the students will continue their study of the English colonies. They will be focusing on the Southern colonies. The students will be analyzing the colony of Jamestown: the problems they faced and why the colonists’ relationship with the Indians changed. They will also be exploring what daily life was like in the Virginia colony, and they will be comparing and contrasting the life of a slave and an indentured servant. Lastly, the class will be discussing the founding of Maryland, the Carolinas, and Georgia.
12/17-12/18: Test and answer key for “The Southern Colonies” are due typed on Wednesday.
12/19: The students will be taking each other’s quizzes on “The Southern Colonies”.
The students will continue their study of city life in the late 1800s and early 1900s. They will be analyzing the problems crowded urban areas faced at this time: including tenements, poor sanitation, and the spread of diseases. Lastly, the class will be discussing how people such as Jacob Riis, Florence Kelley, and Jane Adams, worked to improve life in the cities.

This week the class will continue focusing on the seasons of Advent and Christmas. The students will be working within a group to create an Advent and Christmas Board Game. The students will be following a detailed rubric that was given out in class.
12/14: STUDY! Open Book Test- Tuesday: Advent and Christmas on pages 156-158 and 162-164.
12/18: The class will be taking a test on the Seasons of Advent and Christmas.
12/17-12/19: Groups will be working on creating their game boards for the Advent and Christmas Board Games. The class will be playing the board games on Thursday!
