Week of October 30th-November 3rd

Reminders:

1). Wednesday, November 1st- there is a 10:00 a.m. Mass for All Saint’s Day.

2). Wednesday, November 1st- our Student Council Election will be taking place at 1:30 p.m. Parents of students who are running in the election are welcome to come join us!

*Students must have a book of choice by now; failure to bring in their book will result in a missing homework.  They have had ample time to find another book. Thank you!

Grade 5- This week, the students will be finishing and presenting their “Instagram” Book Report Projects. For the rest of the week, they will be working in their Ready New York CCLS English Language Arts Book.  We will be focusing on comparing and contrasting settings and events.  The students will be using details in a story to describe settings and events. They will be  identifying settings and events and describing how they contribute to and advance the plot of a story. Lastly, they will be using details to compare and contrast different settings and events in a story. 

Tentative Homework/Testing Schedule: 

Monday, October 30th- 1). Read for 20 minutes; no written reading log is required.  2). Make sure your “Instagram” Book Report Project is completed; you will be presenting tomorrow!

Tuesday, October 31st- 1). Happy Halloween! No homework today!

Wednesday, November 1st- 1). Complete a written reading log today. 

Thursday, November 2nd- 1). Complete Ready New York CCLS English Language Arts Book pages 64-65: “Goodbye for Now”.  Be sure to complete the “Close Reading” on page 64.  Don’t forget to use process of elimination for questions one and two and to incorporate two details to support your answer for the written response question.

Grade 6- This week, the students will be finishing and presenting their “Instagram” Book Report Projects. For the rest of the week, they will be working in their Ready New York CCLS English Language Arts Book.  We will be focusing on citing evidence to make inferences.  They will use supporting details and examples to make inferences about the text and cite textual evidence to support inferences drawn from the text.  Lastly, the students will provide an analysis of the text. 

Tentative Homework/Testing Schedule: 

Monday, October 30th- 1). Complete a written reading log today! 2). Make sure your “Instagram” Book Report Project is completed; you will be presenting tomorrow!

Grade 7- This week, the students will be finishing and presenting their “Story Quilt” Book Report Projects. For the rest of the week, they will be working in their Ready New York CCLS English Language Arts Book.  We will be focusing on citing evidence to make inferences.  They will use textual evidence, along with background knowledge, to make reasonable inferences about an informational text.  They will also cite two or more pieces of text evidence to support an inference drawn from the text. 

Religion- (*Be sure all of your work for the “Saint Book-Jacket” Project is typed for Monday, October 30th!*) This week, the students will be finishing their “Saint Book- Jacket” Project.  They will be pressing their books to the class.  We will begin focusing on Chapter 4: “God, Our Loving Father”. The students will also focus on the big question: “How do I know God loves me?”  

Tentative Homework/Testing Schedule: 

Monday, October 30th- 1). Make sure “Saint Book-Jacket” Project is completed 2). Make sure your “Story Quilt” Book Report Project is completed; you will be presenting tomorrow! 3). Get Chapter 3: “The Blessed Trinity” Exam signed, and make corrections.
