Week of May 8th to May 12th

Reminders:

  1. Monday, May 8th and Tuesday, May, 9th is the Scholastic Book Fair in school.

5th Grade

            This week the 5th grade will be learning about finding the probability of a simple or combined event, and setting up tree diagrams to identify outcomes. We will also be working on finding the probability of more than one event. Towards the end of the week we will be looking at dependent and independent events when it comes to finding the probability of an event.

6th Grade

            This week the 6th grade will be working on converting numbers between fractions, decimals, and percents. We will also be comparing numbers in these three formats. We will also be doing this with percents greater than 100% and less than 1%.

7th Grade

            This week the seventh grade will begin working on figuring out the likelihood of an event-taking place using probability. We will then go on to discuss the Fundamental Counting Principle and factorials to find the size of a sample space. Then, we will be learning about writing the probability of an event or combination of events occurring as a fraction, decimal, or percent.

8th Grade

            This week the eighth grade will be working on organizing groups of data into different formats. These formats include stem-and-leaf plots, box-and-whisker plots, and histograms. All three of these different types of graphs are meant to show something different when displaying a set of data.

5th Grade Religion

This week the 5th grade will be working on reviewing Chapter 11 in their workbook. They will be having their test on Thursday, May 11th. This test is going to cover the different parts that the mass is broken up into: the Introductory Rites, Liturgy of the Word, Liturgy of the Eucharist, and the Concluding Rites.
