Week of January 29th-February 2nd

Reminders:

1). Mass will be held on Sunday, January 28th at 12:00 P.M. followed by our Open House from 1:00 P.M.-3:00 P.M.

Catholic Schools Week Schedule is as follows:

A). Monday, January 29th-Crazy Hat Day

B). Tuesday, January 30th-Opposite Day

C). Wednesday, January 31st- Student Volleyball Game-Grades 5-8 

D). Thursday, February 1st-Happy Student Appreciation Day! Today is also Pajama Day, Buddy Bingo, and Ice Cream Day.

E). Friday, February 2nd- Teacher Appreciation Day! There is a 12:00 Dismissal and no after school.

 

Grade 5– This week, the students will begin to read Holes by Louis Sachar; they will be making predictions and identifying vocabulary from Chapters 1-10; the students will be creating illustrations and riddles with the words; as the students read, they will be summarizing chapters and answering various comprehension questions.  Please check the website each day, since classwork and homework will be tentative.  

*If you did not hand in the “Unit 5 Vocabulary” worksheet, please make sure it is in by tomorrow!*

Monday, January 29th– 1). Make sure your symbols are finished from class today.  2). Write a prediction of the book; use at least three vocabulary words.

Tuesday, January 30th– 1). Finish reading up to Chapter 3; summarize what we read today; answer the comprehension questions.

Wednesday, January 31st– 1). Finish reading up to Chapter 5; be sure to have the handout completed based on these chapters. 2). Get Unit 5 Vocabulary quiz signed, and make corrections. 

Thursday, February 1st– Happy Student Appreciation Day! No homework today! 

 

Grade 6-This week, the students will begin to read Heaven is For Real by Todd Burpo; they will be making a prediction of the novel and identifying vocabulary from Chapters 1-7; the students will be creating illustrations and riddles with the words; as the students read, they will be summarizing chapters and answering various comprehension questions.  Please check the website each day, since classwork and homework will be tentative.  

*If you did not hand in the “Unit 5 Vocabulary” worksheet, please make sure it is in by tomorrow!*

Tuesday, January 30th– 1). Finish reading up to Chapter 1; summarize what we read today; separate the Prologue and Chapter 1. Use vocabulary words =)

Wednesday, January 31st– 1). Finish reading from where we left off until Chapter 3; answer the comprehension questions:

1). What obstacles has Todd faced so far? Do you consider him to be a strong person? Explain.

2). Who are Norma and Bryan Dannatt? How do they help Colton? Explain. 

3). Would you consider Colton to be brave in the end of Chapter 3? Explain.

Thursday, February 1st– Happy Student Appreciation Day! No homework today!

 

Grade 7-This week, the students will begin to read The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton; they will be making a prediction of the book and identifying vocabulary from Chapters 1-4; the students will be creating illustrations and writing sentences with the words; as the students read, they will be summarizing chapters and answering various comprehension questions.  Please check the website each day, since classwork and homework will be tentative, especially that this week is Catholic School’s Week!

Religion– This week, the students will begin focusing on Chapter 6-“Holy Spirit, Helper and Guide”. They will be focusing on the question-“How do I find my way?” We will be discussing how the Holy Spirit is always present with the Father and the Son and how the Holy Spirit is active in God’s plan of salvation. 

*If you did not hand in the “Unit 5 Vocabulary” worksheet, please make sure it is in by tomorrow!*

Sampson Davis, George Jenkins, and Rameck Hunt; they will be making a prediction about the novel and identifying vocabulary words from the Introduction to Chapter 4; they will be creating illustrations and writing sentences with the words; as the students read, they will be summarizing chapters and answering various comprehension questions.  Please check the website each day, since classwork and homework will be tentative, especially that this week is Catholic School’s Week!
