Week of February 12th, 2018

Reminders:

1). Monday, February 12th- Red/White Day-$2 Dress Down

2). Progress Reports will be going home on Monday, February 12th.

3). Ash Wednesday is on February 14th; the students will be attending mass and receiving their ashes.

4). Progress Reports are due back on Wednesday, February 14th.

5th Grade
In honor of President’s Week, the students will be working independently to create a project focusing on one of the United States Presidents.

President Project- “Presidential Hits CD”: The students will imagine that they are producing a music CD about the United States President that they picked in class. They will have to use research to create 20 different song titles that discuss important achievements, accomplishments or failures, that their president has made. They will also be designing a CD album cover, title for the CD, and a band name. They will be following a detailed rubric that was given out in class.

2/9: RESEARCH ON YOUR PRESIDENT IS DUE ON MONDAY, FEBRUARY 12TH! MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE ENOUGH RESEARCH ON YOUR PRESIDENT’S TIME IN OFFICE AND HIS ACHIEVEMENTS!

2/12: 20 song titles are due typed on Thursday.

2/13: Work on and type the song titles that you have already created in class.
Other materials (pictures, stickers, quotes from your president, etc.) are due tomorrow!

2/14: All of your song titles are due typed tomorrow!
Bring in materials to help you create the front and back covers of your CD.

2/15: Finish creating your Presidential CD! Everyone will be presenting tomorrow!

6th Grade
In honor of President’s Week, the students will be working independently to create a project focussing on one of the United States Presidents.

Project: “President Book Jacket”– The students will be using research to create a book jacket based on their president’s life (mainly his time in office as President of the United States). They will be creating 15 chapter titles based on important achievements throughout the president’s life. They will be using their chapter titles to write a summary that discusses his achievements in detail. Lastly, the students will have to design an eye-catching cover for their book. The cover must have a symbol that represents something significant from the president’s time in office and should be full of pictures and quotes form the president.

2/9: RESEARCH IS DUE ON MONDAY, FEBRUARY 12TH. ALL OTHER MATERIALS ARE DUE ON THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 14TH.

2/12: Chapter titles are due typed on Wednesday.

2/13: All of your chapter titles are due typed tomorrow. 2/14: Summary of your president’s life is due typed on Friday. Make sure that you are using the chapter titles that you created to help you write the summary.

Other materials (pictures, stickers, quotes from your president, etc.) are due tomorrow!

2/15: The summary must be typed and glued on the back of your book-jacket tonight. Make sure your project is complete and you are ready to present tomorrow!

2/16: Presidential Book-Jacket Presentations.

7th Grade
In honor of President’s Week, the students will be working independently to create a project focussing on one of the United States Presidents.

“Presidential Time Capsule Project”– . The students must pick six important achievements that their president achieved while in office and make these achievements into items that will be placed in the time capsule. They will then write a letter as if they were the president and discuss these six items/achievements. Lastly, the students will be decorating the actual time capsule with quotes, pictures, and achievements throughout the president’s life.

Bring in materials (pictures, stickers, quotes from your president, etc.) to help you decorate your time capsule!

2/12-2/13: Students will be working on creating the items to put into their time capsule. They will also be decorating the time capsule with things that represent the president they researched.

2/14-2/15: Presidential Time Capsule Presentations

8th Grade
In honor of President’s Week, the students will be working independently to create a project focussing on one of the United States Presidents.

“Presidential Eulogy Project”. The students will have to imagine that they were someone who was close to the president they picked in class, and they will have to write a one-page heart felt eulogy. The eulogy must evaluate their president’s life, achievements, and failures (focusing mainly on his time as President of the United States). The students will also be creating a visual that would be displayed at the president’s funeral. This display should have pictures, achievements, and quotes from your president.

2/9: Visual: please make sure that you draw and cut out your visual. It is due on Tuesday!

One-page (12 font) eulogies are due typed on Tuesday.

2/12: The students will be working on creating the visual for their project.

Religon
This week the students will begin their study of the Season of Lent.

2/12: STUDY! Quiz on the Nicene Creed tomorrow.

2/13: The students will be taking a quiz on the Nicene Creed.

2/15: The students will be working independently to create a 15 question quiz on the Season of Lent. They will be using information from pages 232-234 of their workbook, as well as other outside information. They must create an answer key to go along with their quiz questions.
