Week of December 19th to the 23th

5th Grade

The students will begin their study of New Spain. They will be discussing when, where, and why the Spanish colonized North America. They will also be analyzing how the Spanish maintained control of North America. Lastly, the students will be discussing the introduction of slavery into the Americas.

12/16: STUDY! Jeopardy- Monday and Test- Tuesday on “New Spain” pages 144-149. 20 Jeopardy questions are due on Monday.

12/19: The class will be playing Jeopardy today.

6th Grade

The students will begin their study of Ancient Egypt. They will become familiar with the location and geography of Egypt. They will also be examining the importance of the Nile River and how it impacted the development of this ancient civilization. Lastly, the class will be discussing the uniting of ancient Egypt.

7th Grade

The students will continue their study of the English colonies. They will be focusing on the New England Colonies. They will be analyzing the reasons why the Pilgrims and Puritans came to America (religious persecution). The class will also be discussing how closely linked religion and the government were in the New England colonies.   Lastly, they will be discussing the economies and education of the New England colonies.

8th Grade

The students will begin their study of U.S immigration in the late 1800s. They will be exploring the changing patterns of immigration (old immigrants and new immigrants), and they will be discussing what happened once these immigrants arrived in the United States (Ellis Island an Angel Island). Lastly, the class will be analyzing how these immigrants adjusted to a new life in America.

 

Religion

The students will continue discussing the seasons of Advent and Christmas. The students will also be practicing for the Christmas Play.
