Tentative Homework/Tests/Quizzes/Projects for the Week of May 1st- 5th.

3rd Grade:

This week in math, the children will review liquid volume and mass, estimate and measure length to the nearest inch, half-inch, and quarter-inch, display data in a line plot, solve problems using scaled graphs, draw scaled graphs, read, interpret, and make pictographs and bar graphs, and make, read, and interpret line plots.

 

This week in religion, the children will learn how we share in Jesus’ mission as we live out his message of peace and justice each day.

 

This week in science, the children will focus on Chapter 3 Types of Animals.  The children will describe animal habitats and homes, identify what animals need to live, describe how the environment meets the needs of animals, describe physical characteristics of mammals, describe the common characteristics of the different groups of vertebrates, describe the distinguishing characteristics of  the different groups of vertebrates, describe how worms move, classify invertebrates, and describe how the physical structures of invertebrates allow them to move, obtain food, and protect themselves.

 

Monday:

Math–              Line Plots Workbook page 82.  Quiz next week on Chapter 7 Lessons 1-2. Lesson 2A, Lesson 5, Lessons 7-8, Lessons 13-14. Study: Workbook pages 78-79,82,84-85, 90-91, 197-198, and 249 AND                         New York Ready Lessons 24-26 pages 218-247

Science-           Chapter 3 Lessons 1-3 Test Thursday, 5/4.  Study notes, vocabulary, and RS pages.

 

Tuesday:

Grade 4:

This week in math, the students will take the  New York State Math Assessment.

This week in science, the students will focus on Chapter 7 The Rock Cycle.  The children will make a model to see how sedimentary rock forms, describe what minerals are, identify the three types of rock, model the steps in the rock cycle, explain what the rock cycle is, describe the processes that take place during the rock cycle, experiment to see how rocks break down, describe how weathering affects rock, explain how erosion affects rock, compare particle sizes in different types of soil, describe what soil is, and explain how soil forms, and how soils differ.

 

Monday:

Math-              Chapter 7 Lessons 1 and 2 Test Tuesday, 5/9.  There will be no written homework this week due to the state test.
