This week in ** math**, the children will continue understand what a square unit is and the fact that it can be different sizes and used to measure area, find the area of shapes using different size square units, including square centimeters and meters, square inches and feet, understand that multiplying side lengths of a rectangle provides the same results as tiling it and counting units, use the area formula for rectangles to solve mathematical and real world problems, use area models and the distributive property to solve area problems involving combing two rectangles, use area models to show how the distributive property can be used to find the area of combined rectangles, decompose shapes formed by rectilinear rectangles, find the area of each rectangle, and add the areas to find the total are of the shape, understand the difference between area and perimeter, use side lengths to find the perimeter of a shape, find an unknown side length given the perimeter of a shape, and understand that rectangles with the same area can have different perimeters, understand that rectangles with the same perimeter have different areas

This week in ** religion**, the children will learn that Catholics all over the world share the same faith and celebrate that faith in different ways.

This week in ** science**, the children will focus on Chapter 4 Where Living Things Are Found. The students will, observe and describe the habitats of organisms in an ecosystem, describe what makes up an environment, describe what makes up an ecosystem, describe different ecosystems, explain how ecosystems support plant and animal life, describe how organisms adapt to their environments, and recognize that hibernation and migration are instinctive behaviors.
