Tentative Homework/Tests/Quizzes/Projects for the Week of March 13th – March 17th.

Grade 3:

This week, in math the students will be learning about fractions in Chapter 12.  They will find fractions as parts of a whole and parts of a set, estimate and compare fractions with like and unlike denominators, add and subtract fractions with like denominators, and solve problems using a drawing or model.

This week, in science the students will be learning about Types of Living Things in Chapter 1.  They will identify and compare characteristics of living and nonliving things, describe the parts of cells, observe the rate of seed growth, and describe the life cycle of plans and animals.

This week, in religion, the children will learn that the season of Lent is a time of preparation for Easter and that the Three Days celebrate Jesus’ passing from death to new life.

We have started working a little extra on script handwriting in the classroom. We have been working on lower case letters with an undercurve stroke: i, t, u, w, e, l, b, h, f, k, r, s, j, p,  lower case letters with an overcurve stroke:  n, m, y, x, v, z, and lower case letters with a downcurve stroke:  a, d, g, o, c, and q.  The students are encouraged to practice script at home.  I will send home some optional practice worksheets.  If you would like, you can have your child hand them back in to me to check over.
