Tentative Homework/Tests/Quizzes/Projects for the Week of January 9-13.

Grade 3:

This week, in math the students will continue to study Place Value.   In Chapter 1 the students will:  read, write, compare, order, and round numbers, count money and make change, explore counting patterns and one thousand, and solve problems by drawing a picture.

 

This week, in science the students will focus on Forces and Motion.  In Chapter 15 the students will  discover that movement is caused by forces acting on an object.  The students will investigate to find out in which directions objects can move, read and learn about motion, distance, and speed, investigate the motion of an object sliding down a ramp, read and learn about forces and how they affect motion, observe the motion of different kinds of waves, and read and learn about types of waves and how to measure them.

 

This week, in religion Chapter 12, the children learned that we are called to serve God in our particular vocations.  In Chapter 15, the children will learn about the Seven Sacraments as the special signs of God’s love.

Grade 4:

This week, in math the students will continue to divide by one digit.  In Chapter 5 the students will:  study the meanings and rules of division, investigate patterns, missing numbers, and divisibility, estimate and divide whole numbers and money, explore zeros in division, learn about the order of operations and averages, and solve problems by interpreting the remainder.

This week, in science the students will focus on Energy Transfer in Ecosystems.  In Chapter 6 the students will discover that living thins get energy from the sun or from other living things.  The students will investigate how living things decompose, read and learn how living things fill certain roles, investigate how food chains link living things together, and read and learn how living things pass energy through an ecosystem.
