Tentative Homework/Tests/Quizzes/Projects for the Week of January 23rd – 27th.

Grade 3:

This week, in math the students will study Addition.   In Chapter 2 the students will:  add 2-, 3-, and 4-digit numbers including money, with and without regrouping, use related facts to find missing addends, use rounding to estimate sums, solve problems with the strategy of using simpler numbers.

This week, in science the students will continue to focus on Forces and Motion.  In Chapter 15 the students will discover that movement is caused by forces acting on an object.  The students will investigate to find out in which directions objects can move, read and learn about motion, distance, and speed, investigate the motion of an object sliding down a ramp, read and learn about forces and how they affect motion, observe the motion of different kinds of waves, and read and learn about types of waves and how to measure them.

Last week in Religion, the children learned that there are Seven Sacraments.  In chapter 16, the students will continue to lean about the Sacrament of the Eucharist.

Tentative Homework/Test Schedule:

Monday, January 23rd :

Math-  Add:  No Regrouping and Estimate Sums.  Workbook pages 14-15 (even numbers).

Science Chapter 15 Forces and Motion Test on Thursday, 1/26.  Do R.S. pages 116-117 Different Kinds of Waves.

Religion chapter 16 Celebrating Eucharist:  The Mass Test Friday, 1/27.

 

Tuesday, January 24th:

Math– Add With Regrouping Workbook page 16.

Science- Chapter 15 Forces and Motion Test on Thursday, 1/26.

Religion– Chapter 16 Celebrating Eucharist:  The Mass Test Friday, 1/27.

Grade 4:

This week, in math the students will

This week, in science the students will continue to focus on Energy Transfer in Ecosystems.  In Chapter 6 the students will discover that living thins get energy from the sun or from other living things.  The students will investigate how living things decompose, read and learn how living things fill certain roles, investigate how food chains link living things together, and read and learn how living things pass energy through an ecosystem.

Towards the end of the week, the students will be introduced to Chapter 15 Making and Using Electricity.
