__Grade 3:__

This week in math, the students will use estimation and mental computation to check reasonableness of answers, represent story problems with expressions using a letter to stand for the unknown, and solve problems using various strategies.

This week in science, the students will read and learn about what happens when light hits different objects and how sound is made, how it travels, and how you hear it.

This week in religion, the students will be learning about Advent and Christmas.

__Grade 4:__

This week in math, the students will divide up to four digit dividends by one digit divisors with remainders, use equations, rectangular arrays , and area models to illustrate and explain calculations, model multi-step problems, solve multi-step problems, interpret remainders in a division word problem, use estimation strategies to make sure the answers make sense, and divide 2-digit dividends by 1-digit divisors to find 2-digit quotients with and without remainders.

This week in science, the students will explain how living and nonliving parts of an ecosystem interact, explain how biotic and abiotic factors affect ecosystems, describe how climate affects ecosystems, explain how humans use resources, and describe positive and negative ways humans affect ecosystems.
