# Tentative Homework/Tests/ Quizzes/Projects for the Week of December 12th-16th.

This week in math, the students will use estimation and mental computation to check reasonableness of answers, represent story problems with expressions using a letter to stand for the unknown, and solve problems using various strategies.

This week in science, the students will read and learn about what happens when light hits different objects and how sound is made, how it travels, and how you hear it.

This week in religion, the students will be learning about Advent and Christmas.

Tentative Homework/Test Schedule:

Monday, December 12th:

1. Math Checking Reasonableness of Answers and Writing Variable Expressions Workbook pages 247 and 248.
2. Math Chapter 6 Lessons 12-16,14A, and 14B Quiz Thursday, 12/15.

Tuesday, December 13th:

1. Math Chapter 6 Lessons 12-16,14A, and 14B Quiz moved to Tuesday, 12/20.  Study workbook pages 74-77, 193-196, and 247-248.
2. Math Problem-Solving Applications:   Mixed Review Workbook page 77.
3. Science Chapter 14 Lessons 3 and 4 Test on Tuesday, 12/20.  Study Chapter 14 Lessons 3 and 4 notes and R.S. pages 106-109.  These will all be taped into the students’ Science notebooks.

Wednesday, December 14th:

1. Math Chapter 6 Lessons 12-16,14A, and 14B Quiz moved to Tuesday, 12/20.  Study workbook pages 74-77, 193-196, and 247-248.
2. Science Chapter 14 Lessons 3 and 4 Test on Tuesday, 12/20.Study Chapter 14 Lessons 3 and 4 notes and R.S. pages 106-109.  These will all be taped into the students’ Science notebooks.
3. Math Workbook page 248 numbers 2,4,6 and page 194 (try) numbers 7 and 8.

Thursday, December 15th:

1. Math Chapter 6 Lessons 12-16,14A, and 14B Quiz moved to Tuesday, 12/20.  Study workbook pages 74-77, 193-196, and 247-248.
2. Science Chapter 14 Lessons 3 and 4 Test on Tuesday, 12/20.Study Chapter 14 Lessons 3 and 4 notes and R.S. pages 106-109.  These will all be taped into the students’ Science notebooks.
3. Math

This week in math, the students will divide up to four digit dividends by one digit divisors with remainders, use equations, rectangular arrays , and area models to illustrate and explain calculations, model multi-step problems, solve multi-step problems, interpret remainders in a division word problem, use estimation strategies to make sure the answers make sense, and divide 2-digit dividends by 1-digit divisors to find 2-digit quotients with and without remainders.

This week in science, the students will explain how living and nonliving parts of an ecosystem interact, explain how biotic and abiotic factors affect ecosystems, describe how climate affects ecosystems, explain how humans use resources, and describe positive and negative ways humans affect ecosystems.

Monday, December 12th:

1. Math pages 114-115 New York Ready Lesson 12 Divide Whole Numbers.

Tuesday, December 13th:

1. Math pages 116-118 New York Ready Unit 3 Interim Assessment. (This will be challenging, students should just try their best.)
2. Science Chapter 5 Test Tuesday, 12/20.  Students should study their notes and RS pages 31-37.  These should be taped into the students’  science notebooks.
3. Science RS pages 36-37.

Wednesday, December 14th:

1. Science Textbook pages 234-235 do all except number 18.
2. Science Chapter 5 Test Tuesday, 12/20.  Students should study their notes and RS pages 31-37.  These should be taped into the students’  science notebooks.

Thursday, December 15th:

1. Math New York Ready pages 90-91.
