3rd Grade Week at a Glance:

Math

In Chapter 6, students will multiply and divide using 6, 7, 8, and 9, multiply using three factors, relate multiplication and division, and solve problems using the “Guess and Test” strategy.

Science

In Chapter 12, the students will define energy and explain the difference between kinetic and potential energy, identify the sources of types of energy people use for different purposes, define temperature, investigate the power of wind to move objects, describe ways people can conserve energy resources, and explain the difference between renewable and nonrenewable energy resources.

Religion

In Chapter 5, the students will learn about the Apostles who led the Church and about those who remained true followers of Jesus despite the risk of losing their lives.  In Chapter 6, the children will learn that the Church year celebrates Jesus.  In Chapter 7, the children will learn that, in Ordinary Time, we celebrate the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.

4th Grade Week at a Glance:

Math

In Chapter 3, the students will use addition ad subtraction algorithms to 5 digits, with regrouping, add three or more addends, subtract with zeros in the minuend, add and subtract money amounts, with regrouping, solve a problem by choosing the correct operation.  

In Chapter 4, the students will use multiplication properties, models, and patterns, estimate products, multiply up to a 4 digit number by a 1-digit number, with and without regrouping, multiply a 2-digit number by a 2-digit number, with and without regrouping, and solve problems by working backwards.

Science

In Chapter 7, the students will make a model to see how sedimentary rock forms, describe what minerals are, identify the three types of rocks, model the steps in the rock cycle, explain what the rock cycle is, describe the processes that take place during the rock cycle, experiment to see how rocks break down, describe how weathering affects rocks, explain how erosion affects rock, compare particle sizes in different types of soil, describe what soil is, explain how soil forms, and how soils differ.
