Tentative Homework/Tests/Quizzes/Projects for the Week of March 12th-16th.

Reminders:

1). The 2nd Trimester ends on Thursday, March 15th.

2.) Ladies Night Out is on Thursday, March 15th.

3). The 3rd Trimester begins on Friday, March 16th.

4). There is a $1.00 Green Nut Day on Friday, March 16th.

5). There is a 12:00 P.M. Dismissal on Friday, March 16th

 

3rd Grade a Week at a Glance:

Religion:

In Chapter 20, Lent will be presented as a time of preparation for Easter.  In Chapter 21, the Three Days will be presented as a celebration of Jesus’ passing from death to life.  In Chapter 27, the students will be introduced to the Easter season as a time to celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus.

This week the 3rd Graders will discuss and write reflections on the Stations of the Cross. 

Math:

In Chapter 12, students will find fractions as parts of a whole and parts of a set, estimate and compare fractions with like and unlike denominators, add and subtract fractions with like denominators, and solve problems using a drawing or a model.

The 3rd Grade will also work in the Ready New York CCLS book on Unit 4:  Numbers and Operations—Fractions.  In this unit, students will understand what a fraction is, understand fractions on a number line, understand equivalent fractions, find equivalent fractions, understand comparing fractions, and use symbols to compare fractions.

Math:   Equivalent Fractions and Model Equivalent Fractions Workbook pages 145 and 264.  Chapter 12 Lessons 12-1, 12-1A-C, 12-2, 12-2A, 12-3, and 12-3A Quiz Friday, 3/16.

Religion:  Lent/Three Days (Triduum), Easter Test Thursday, 3/15.  Study Notes and Chapters 20, 21, and 27.

Wednesday:

Math:  Compare Like Fractions Using Models Workbook page 265.  Chapter 12 Lessons 12-1, 12-1A-C, 12-2, 12-2A, 12-3, and 12-3A Quiz Friday, 3/16.

Grade 4 Week at a Glance:

Math:

In Chapter 8, students will write fractions and mixed numbers in standard from and as word names, estimate fractions, identify and write equivalent fractions, find common factors and the GCF of two or more numbers, write fractions in lowest terms, compare and order fractions and mixed numbers, and use logical reasoning to solve problems.

The 4th Grade will also work in the Ready New York CCLS book on Unit 4:  Numbers and Operations—Fractions.  In this unit, students will understand equivalent fractions, compare fractions, understand fraction addition and subtraction, add and subtract fractions, add and subtract mixed numbers, understand fraction multiplication, multiply fractions, fractions as tenths and hundredths, relate decimals and fractions, and compare decimals.

Wednesday:

Math:  Compare Fractions Workbook page 103.  I will be reteaching simplest form and Greatest Common Factor.  The students will retake Chapter 8 Lessons 8-6, 8-7, 8-8, and 8-8A Quiz Monday, 3/19.
