**3rd Grade At A Glance:**

**Math:** In Chapter 2, students will add 2-, 3-, and 4-digit numbers, including money, with and without regrouping, use related facts to find missing addends, use rounding to estimate sums, and solve problems. In Chapter 3, students will learn four meanings of subtraction, subtract 2-, 3-, and 4- digit numbers, including money, with and without regrouping, estimate differences, regroup hundreds and dollars and thousands as hundreds, regroup with zeros, and choose the operation to solve problems.

**Science: ** In Chapter 16, the students will define work, identify what is needed to measure work, define simple machine, describe a lever, a wheel-and-axle, a pulley, a wedge, and a screw, and explain the relationship between an inclined plane and a screw.

**Religion:** In Chapter 10, the students will learn about the ways Catholics listen and talk to God in prayer. In Chapter 20, the season of Lent will be presented as a time of preparation for Easter. In Chapter 21, the Three Days (Triduum) will be presented as a celebration of Jesus’ passing from death to life.

**4th Grade at a Glance:**

**Math:** In Chapter 5, students will use division concepts and rules, find missing dividends, or divisors, create and extend number patterns, divide 2-, 3-, 4- digit dividends by 1-digit divisors to find quotients with and without remainders, use order of operations, and solve problems using the strategy Interpret the Remainder.

**Science:** The students will describe the water cycle, understand how precipitation forms, describe different kinds of precipitation, understand what causes different kinds of weather, describe how temperature affects the water cycle, describe how landforms affect the water cycle, understand what air masses are and how they move, and recognize what the symbols on a weather map represent.
