Tentative Homework/Quizzes/Tests/Projects for the Week of March 19th-23rd.

Reminders:

1).The Museum of Natural History Trip has been cancelled.  We have rescheduled for Monday, April 16th.

2). Thursday, March 22nd- Report Card Conferences/12:00 P.M. Dismissal.  Report card times have been sent home; please ask your child for the time.

3rd Grade Week at a Glance:

Religion:

In Chapter 20, Lent will be presented as a time of preparation for Easter.  In Chapter 21, the Three Days will be presented as a celebration of Jesus’ passing from death to life.  In Chapter 27, the students will be introduced to the Easter season as a time to celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus.

We will continue to work on Lenten activities this week.

Math:

In Chapter 12, students will find fractions as parts of a whole and parts of a set, estimate and compare fractions with like and unlike denominators, add and subtract fractions with like denominators, and solve problems using a drawing or a model.

The 3rd Grade will also work in the Ready New York CCLS book on Unit 4:  Numbers and Operations—Fractions.  In this unit, students will understand what a fraction is, understand fractions on a number line, understand equivalent fractions, find equivalent fractions, understand comparing fractions, and use symbols to compare fractions.

Math:   Compare Unlike Fractions Using Fraction Strips and Fraction Sense Workbook pages 266-267.  Chapter 12 Lessons 4-6, 12-4A, and 12-4B Quiz Friday,  3/23.

Science:  Chapter 1 Lessons 1 and 2 Vocabulary Quiz Friday, 3/23.

Tuesday:

Math:   Order Fractions and Find Parts of a Set Workbook pages 148-149 even numbers. Chapter 12 Lessons 4-6, 12-4A, and 12-4B Quiz Friday,  3/23.

Science:  Finish vocabulary sentences.  Chapter 1 Lessons 1 and 2 Vocabulary Quiz Friday, 3/23.

Friday:  QUIZZES AND TEST HAVE BEEN MOVED DUE TO THE SNOW DAYS.

Math:  Chapter 12 Lessons 4-6, 12-4A, and 12-4B Quiz Monday, 3/26.

Science: Chapter 1 Lessons 1 and 2 Vocabulary Quiz Tuesday, 3/27.

Science:  Chapter 1 Test will be on Tuesday, 4/10.  This will be on Lessons 1 and 2 notes, class discussions, and RS Worksheets.

 

4th Grade Week at a Glance:

Math:

In Chapter 8, students will write fractions and mixed numbers in standard from and as word names, estimate fractions, identify and write equivalent fractions, find common factors and the GCF of two or more numbers, write fractions in lowest terms, compare and order fractions and mixed numbers, and use logical reasoning to solve problems.

The 4th Grade will also work in the Ready New York CCLS book on Unit 4:  Numbers and Operations—Fractions.  In this unit, students will understand equivalent fractions, compare fractions, understand fraction addition and subtraction, add and subtract fractions, add and subtract mixed numbers, understand fraction multiplication, multiply fractions, fractions as tenths and hundredths, relate decimals and fractions, and compare decimals.

Math:  Order Fractions and Problem-Solving Applications:  Mixed Review Workbook pages 104 and 106.  Chapter 8 Lessons 9-12, factor trees, prime and composite numbers Quiz Friday, 3/23.

Science:  Chapter 15 Lessons 1 and 2 Quiz  Tuesday, 4/11.  Chapter 15 is broken up into 4 lessons.  This Quiz will be strictly on Lesson 1 and 2 notes, class discussion, and RS Worksheets.
