Tentative Homework/Quizzes/Tests/Projects for the Week of January 15th – 19th.

3rd Grade at a Glance

Math:  In chapter 1, students will read and write numbers through 999,999, compare and order whole numbers and money amounts, round whole numbers and money amounts, and draw a picture to help solve problems.

Science:  In Chapter 15, students will investigate different kinds of motion, identify and describe types of motion, define speed, investigate the motion of an object sliding down a ramp, define force and describe how forces affect motion, define weight, observe the motion of different kinds of waves, define waves and describe waves’ motion, and identify the parts of a wave.

Religion:  In Chapter 8, students will learn about the four marks of the Church, which are its special characteristics.

 

3rd Grade Homework:

Monday:

Tuesday:

Math:     Ready New York Lesson 8 Use Place Value to Round Numbers pages 78-79. 

Religion:  Practice the Apostles’ Creed on page 111.  Chapter 9 Test Thursday, 1/25.

Science:  Chapter 15 Lessons 1-3 Test Thursday, 1/25.

Wednesday:

Math:  Rounding to the Nearest Ten, Hundred, and Thousand Worksheet

Science: Chapter 15 Lessons 1-3 Test Thursday, 1/25.

Religion:  Practice the Apostles’ Creed on page 111.  Chapter 9 Test Thursday, 1/25.

Thursday:

Math:  Rounding to the Nearest Ten, Hundred, and Thousand Worksheet.   Chapter 1 Test (omit lessons 1-10 and 1-11) on Wednesday, 1/24.  Review worksheets that have come home and Workbook pages 1-7 and 10-12.   

Science:  Chapter 15 Lessons 1-3 Test Thursday, 1/25.

Religion:  Practice the Apostles’ Creed on page 111.  Chapter 9 Test Thursday, 1/25.

Friday:

Math:   Chapter 1 Test (omit lessons 1-10 and 1-11) on Wednesday, 1/24.  Review worksheets that have come home and Workbook pages 1-7 and 10-12.

4th Grade at a Glance:

Math:  In Chapter 4, students will use multiplication properties, models, and patterns, estimate products, multiply up to a 4-digit number by a 1-digit number, with and without regrouping, multiply a 2-digit number by a 2-digit number with and without regrouping, and solve problems by working backwards.

Science:  In Chapter 8 , students will identify and describe major landforms, explain how landforms develop, make a model of a volcanic eruption, describe Earth’s structure, identify and describe the forces that change Earth’s surface, investigate what animal tracks tell about the animals that made them, define fossils and tell how they form, and explain what the fossil record is

Math: Multiply with Three-Digit Numbers Workbook page 50.  Do even numbers on loose leaf.  Chapter 4 Test Wednesday, 1/24 or Thursday, 1/25.

Thursday:

Science: Chapter 8 Lessons 1-3 Test MOVED to Thursday, 1/25.

Math:  Ready New York Lesson 11 Multiplying Whole Numbers pages 120-121.  Chapter 4 Test Wednesday, 1/24 or Thursday, 1/25.
