Tentative Homework/Quizzes/Tests/Projects for the Week of February 26th-March 2nd.

Reminders:

1). School resumes on Monday, February 26th.

2). Thursday, March 1st- Pennies for Patients Basketball Shoot Out! *This will be the last day to donate to this amazing cause!*

3). School will be closed on Friday, March 2nd, for a Professional Development Day.

 

3rd Grade Week at a Glance:

Math:  In Chapter 3, students will learn four meanings of subtraction, subtract 2-, 3-, and 4- digit numbers, including money, with and without regrouping, estimate differences, regroup hundreds and dollars and thousands as hundreds, regroup with zeros, and choose the operation to solve problems.

Science:  In Chapter 16, the students will define work, identify what is needed to measure work, define simple machine, describe a lever, a wheel-and-axle, a pulley, a wedge, and a screw, and explain the relationship between an inclined plane and a screw. 

Religion:  In Chapter 20, the season of Lent will be presented as a time of preparation for Easter.  In Chapter 21, the Three Days (Triduum) will be presented as a celebration of Jesus’ passing from death to life.  In Chapter 27, the children will learn that in the Easter season we celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus.  They will learn that the Easter season goes on for fifty days, until Pentecost Sunday. 

 

3rd Grade Homework:

Math: Regroup With Zeros Workbook page 34 even numbers.  Chapter 3 Subtraction Test Tuesday, 3/6.

Science:  Simple Machine Project materials due tomorrow.  Final copy of Fact Sheet due on Monday, March 5th

Math: Subtract Larger Numbers Workbook page 36 even numbers.   Chapter 3 Subtraction Test Tuesday, 3/6.  Science:  Final copy of Fact Sheet due Monday, March 5th.

Wednesday:

Math:  Problems Solving Strategy:  Choose the Operation Workbook page 38.  Chapter 3 Subtraction Test Tuesday, 3/6.

4th Grade Week at a Glance:

Math:  In Chapter 5, students will use division concepts and rules, find missing dividends, or divisors, create and extend number patterns, divide 2-, 3-, 4- digit dividends by 1-digit divisors to find quotients with and without remainders, and solve problems using the strategy Interpret the Remainder.

Science:  The students will describe the water cycle, understand how precipitation forms, describe different kinds of precipitation, understand what causes different kinds of weather, describe how temperature affects the water cycle, describe how landforms affect the water cycle, understand what air masses are and how they move, and recognize what the symbols on a weather map represent.
