Vocabulary:

This week, the students will be working in their Vocabulary Workshop Enrich Edition books.  They will be reading entries from the diary of a talent contest winner: “Diary of a Rising Star” and using context clues to develop a meaning for each vocabulary word.  We will then be reviewing each word’s part of speech, definition, synonyms, and antonyms.  Students will be creating illustrations and writing sentences for each vocabulary word.  We will be playing “Hangman” and “Synonym/Antonym Match” to review each of the words.  The students will also discover that homophones are words that sound alike but that have different spellings and meanings. Lastly, we will analyze idioms and their special meanings.
