November 2, 2017
Dear Parents of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Academy,
Fall is finally here! I hope everyone enjoyed the above normal temperatures the last two months. I am pleased to say that it has been an eventful and exciting two months of the school year. The students and staff have settled into the routine of school. November is a month to remember all the men and women who serve our country. It is also a time to reflect and give thanks for family and friends that are so much a part of our lives. I would like to thank all of our volunteers who assisted in making the Pumpkin Patch and Halloween Dance a huge success. I could see the excitement in the children’s eyes throughout the entire day. The students look forward to these wonderful, fun-filled events.
On All Saint’s Day, grades Kindergarten through eighth grade celebrated mass with Bishop James Massa and Father Marc. Bishop Massa is the Moderator of the Curia and Vicar for Evangelization in the Diocese of Brooklyn. The procession included many of the students in grades Kindergarten through fourth grade dressing up as their favorite saints. Bishop Massa visited Our Lady of Grace Catholic Academy at the conclusion of mass and had the wonderful opportunity to observe various saints projects. On behalf of the faculty, staff, and students, I would like to thank Bishop Massa for sharing this special day with all of us.
The new Student Council has been elected. Congratulations to all of the students who ran for a position. It takes a lot of time and hard work preparing, campaigning, and practicing your election speech as well as creating your campaign posters. The new candidates will be inducted at the conclusion of the 8:30 a.m. Mass on Wednesday, November 22, 2017. All parents and families are welcome to attend. Our newly elected officials are:
President: Olivia Sweeney
Vice President: Neil Trinchese
Secretary: Douglas Caffarone
Treasurer: Vincent Famighetti
Religious Affairs Leader: Jenna Mestrandrea
Thank you to Miss Amuso, the Student Council Coordinator, for all of your hard work with the election and throughout the year.
On Monday, November 6, 2017, at 10:00 a.m., the students in Nursery through second grade will be remembering our veterans by presenting a Veterans Day play. The students and teachers have been working extremely hard practicing for this special event. I hope that many of the families can come and enjoy this special performance.
I would like to thank all of the families who supported the Cason Cheesecake fundraiser. The pickup date for all of the pies/cakes will be on Wednesday, November 22, 2017. A notice will go home with the specific time for pick up.
Please keep our eighth grade students in your prayers. They will be taking the TACHS Exam on Saturday, November 4, 2017. The entire faculty and staff of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Academy wishes you lots of luck!
