This week, the fourth grade will…

  • wrap up Storyworks:  “Out of the Burning Darkness” and begin the paired texts:  “The Snake That’s Eating Florida” and “Tracking Pythons.”   
  • continue Math- Chapter 7:  Add and Subtract Fractions.
  • wrap up Religion- Chapter 11:  The Third Commandment and begin Religion- Chapter 12:  Strengthened by the Eucharist
  • begin Social Studies Chapter 6 New York and The American Revolution.

Math:

1.)  Sign into Think Central. Click on My Library. Click on Interactive Student Edition. Click on Chapter 7 Add and Subtract Fractions. Click on 7.7 Add and Subtract Mixed Numbers. Watch video. Please  watch the video by 9:00 am.

2.)  We will zoom at 9:30 am to work on this lesson together. (pages 423-425) My zoom ID will be in the stream. Please have a highlighter, pencil, and math book. Sit in a quite workspace. Please do not add a background to your screen. We need to be as productive as possible during this zoom with no distractions. (Thank you!)

3.)  Complete and submit page 427 in your Math book to Google Classroom.

Preparing to Read:
1.) Open to pages 15-16 of Storyworks and look at the images.  What do they suggest about the snake?  Be sure to read the Up Close box on page 16.
2.) Complete sections A and B, then respond to the writing prompt section C on the Snake Words vocabulary worksheet provided.  Submit to Google Classroom.

2.)  After reading the articles “The Snake That’s Eating Florida” and “Tracking Pythons,” go back and reread sections to answer the questions on the Think About It! Worksheet provided, then submit to Google Classroom.
