Grade 3: Week of 9/4-9/6

Welcome Back to School!

This week, the third graders will…

  • Get to know their new classroom, be informed of class rules, and given books and ordered supplies.
  • Work on a multitude of Back to School activities that include recalling summer memories, getting to know their peers with an icebreaker bingo game, and getting to know Mrs. Leto.
  • Share mathematical information about them through a fun “Figure Me Out” activity.
  • Write a fill-in-the-blank poem, “I Am in Third Grade.”
  • Discuss and respond to how we can be a good friend and sprinkle kindness.
  • Begin Social Studies, Chapter 1.
  • Complete a Diagnostic, End of 2nd Grade Year Math Test.

Homework for the week:

Wednesday:

*Students will be given their NY Ready and Vocabulary books to be covered in contact paper by Monday, 9/9. We do not need these books until Monday, but you can slowly start returning them with your child to lighten the load.*

  • Please fill out the paperwork sent home (all 3 copies of Emergency Contact Cards, HAA form, Welcome Packet, and After School forms) and return to school. 
  • Please be sure to send in the appropriately colored notebooks and folders if you have not already done so. (Red, Yellow, and Blue folders and Red, Blue, Green, Purple and [3] Black notebooks)

Thursday:

*Students will be given their Religion and Grammar books to be covered in contact paper by Monday, 9/9. We do not need these books until Monday, but you can slowly start returning them with your child to lighten the load.*

*Students will be given their Go Math Volume 1 and 2 Books to be covered in contact paper by Monday, 9/9. All books must be turned in by Monday, 9/9.*
