Grade 3: Week of 5/13-5/17

This week the third grade will…

  • Begin Spelling Unit 13 (prepaid, midnight, overflow, outline, overgrown, prefix, Midwest, pretest, midpoint, outgoing, overtime, overdue, outside, outfield)
  • Continue reviewing Grammar, Unit 6.
  • Strengthen our Reading Comprehension skills using a variety of sources including Scholastic News & Storyworks Jr.
  • Continue with Math, Chapter 8: Understand Fractions.
  • Review Chapter 4 Science Vocabulary terms (15 total).
  • Complete Religion: Chapter 8: The Church Has Four Marks.
  • Participate in the May Crowning.
  • Continue practicing our song for “The Wizard of OLGCA.”

  • Science Chapter 4 Vocabulary Quiz- Thursday, 5/16
  • Spelling Unit 13 Quiz- Friday, 5/17

Homework for the week:

Monday:
ELA-

  • Spelling- Write the Unit 13 words in alphabetical order.
  • Reading- Read Scholastic News Practice Test 7: “The Write Stuff” and answer questions #10 and 11.
  • Grammar- Complete Lesson 41 in our Unit 6 Review Packet

Math- Complete Lesson 8.3, pages 459-460.

Science- Begin studying for our Chapter 4 Vocabulary Quiz on Thursday, 5/16.


Tuesday:
ELA-

  • Spelling- Write sentences for words #1-5.
  • Reading- Complete the Language Section of Scholastic News Practice Test 7, #13-18.
  • Grammar- Complete Lesson 43 in our Unit 6 Review Packet.

Math- Log onto ThinkCentral and complete the posted assignment.

Science- Continue studying for our Chapter 4 Vocabulary Quiz on Thursday, 5/16.


Wednesday:

ELA-

  • Spelling- Write sentences for words #6-10
  • Reading- Read Scholastic News Practice Test 9: “Seal Rescue” and answer questions #1-5.
  • Grammar- Complete Lesson 45 in our Unit 6 Review Packet.

Math- Complete Lesson 8.4, pages 465-466.

Science- Study for Chapter 4 Vocabulary Quiz.


Thursday:

ELA-

  • Spelling- Write the Unit 13 words 3 times each and study for your Unit 13 Quiz
  • Grammar- Complete Lesson 47 in our Unit 6 Review Packet.

Math- Log onto ThinkCentral and complete the posted assignment.


Friday:

  • *Sign & correct tests/quizzes returned throughout this past week by Monday, 5/20.*
  • Continue working on your Social Studies Country Study Research Projects. Projects are due Friday, May 31st. Use www.kiddle.co as a great tool for kid-friendly research! If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at cleto@olgcahb.org
