October 2016 Newsletter

Dear Parents of Ave Maria Catholic Academy,

It is hard to believe that the first month of school is already behind us. It has been great observing the students transition to a new school year. Thank you for attending Back to School Night to meet your child’s teacher and learn the everyday classroom routines.

The students in grades three through eight have begun the Terra Nova Standardized Exams this week. Although you can’t study for this exam, it is important that the students try their best. These exams measure the student’s reading, language mechanics and math computation skills. The results of this exam will be administered to parents at report card conferences in December.

There are many exciting activities happening in the next few weeks. Some of the activities include:

– Thursday, October 13th, 2016: Field Trip to Green Meadow Farm (Grades K-2)
– Friday, October 14th, 2016: Pink/White $1.00 Dress Down for Breast Cancer Awareness
– Friday, October 21st, 2016: Multicultural Day
– Monday, October 24th, 2016: Winter Uniform Begins
– Friday, October 28th, 2016: Pumpkin Patch
– Saturday, October 29th, 2016: Halloween Dance
– Sunday, October 30th, 2016: Specialized High School Admission Exam

Our three enrichment after school clubs which have already begun, include: Healthy Bites Cooking Class, Paul Effman Band Service and Zumba. The students are having a great time hanging with friends and learning new hobbies after school.

We have expanded our social media network. I am pleased to announce that Ave Maria Catholic Academy is now on Twitter and Instagram. Please follow us @amcahb. In a few weeks we will have a new school website. I will keep you informed when the site is complete and ready to be launched.

Thank you for your continuous support of Ave Maria Catholic Academy.

Best Wishes,

Miss McManus

Principal’s Letter – September 12, 2016

Dear Parents of Ave Maria Catholic Academy,

On behalf of the staff at Ave Maria Catholic Academy, I am happy to welcome you to the 2016-2017 school year. We are incredibly excited to begin a new year at Ave Maria Catholic Academy. The first week of school was wonderful! It was great to see the children filled with excitement, reuniting with friends, teachers and peers. We welcome our new families to the Ave Maria Catholic Academy community.

On Thursday, September 15th , at 7:00 p.m., you will have the opportunity to meet your child’s teachers and to get an overview of their educational program. Mark your calendars for this great night to spend with your child’s teachers and learn about the day in the life of an Ave Maria Catholic Academy student.

Please continue to support our school through our various organizations. For more detailed information on how to register for these fundraisers, please visit our school website and find the Support Our School archive.

Ave Maria Catholic Academy has been and will continue to be a peanut-free environment. This means that every child is asked to bring snacks and lunches free of any peanuts or nuts.

Please know that we greatly value home/school communication here at Ave Maria Catholic Academy. It is extremely important and plays a key role in each student’s success. We encourage you to contact us if something arises and to be informed of your child’s studies.

I look forward to a very positive and productive year together!

Best Wishes,

Miss McManus
