Math:  In Chapter 2, students will:

  • Estimate products by rounding and determine if exact answers to multiplication problems are reasonable.
  • Use the Distributive Property to multiply a 2-digit number by a 1-digit number.
  • Use expanded form to multiply a multidigit number by a 1-digit number.
  • Use place value and partial products to multiply a multidigit number by a 1-digit number.
  • Use mental math and properties to multiply a multidigit number by a 1-digit number.
  • Use the draw a diagram strategy to solve multistep problems.
  • Use regrouping to multiply a 2-digit number by a 1-digit number.
  • Use regrouping to multiply a multidigit number by a 1-digit number. Represent and solve multistep problems using equations.

Social Studies:

Chapter 3 focuses on The First New Yorkers.  In Lesson 1, the students will learn about the early people of New York.  In Lesson 2, the students will learn about the Algonquian People.  In Lesson 3, the students will learn about the Iroquois League.

 

Homework for the Week of November 5th – 9th:

Monday, 11/5:         

1.)  Grammar/Reading Vocabulary:  Grammar Quiz tomorrow on Quotations.

 2.)  Math: Complete Practice and Homework Lesson 2.8 pages 111-112.

3.)  Spelling:  Complete Words with Short o and Long o # 1-10 on page 40 in Reader’s Notebook.  Write misspelled words from Pretest 3 times each in your ELA notebook. Short o and Long o Quiz Thursday, 11/8.  

4.)  Reading:  Complete Daily Reading Comprehension Packet.  Due Tuesday, 11/14.

5.)  Social Studies:  **** CHANGE****  Chapter 3 (Lesson 1 only) Quiz Wednesday, 11/14.
