Grade 3: Week of 6/10-6/14

This week, the third grade will…

  • Practice for the remaining Final Exams by playing an interactive team review game.
  • Complete a Math Project: “My Name in Fractions.”
  • Complete a Vocabulary Project: “Synonym Roll.”
  • Review for Math in the Computer Lab with a Think Central Review assignment.
  • Continue with the June edition of Storyworks Jr. by reading a play, “Glow,” and completing an assortment of associated activities.

Final Exams this week:

  • Social Studies- Monday, 6/10
  • Math- Wednesday, 6/12
  • ELA- Thursday, 6/13
  • Science- Friday, 6/14

Homework for the week:

Monday & Tuesday:

  • Math- Log onto ThinkCentral and complete the posted assignment by Wednesday, 6/12.

**Your only homework this week is to continue studying for the remaining final exams. Please gather your old tests and quizzes to review with and use our many books and supplemental materials to best prepare you for each exam.**

Grade 3: Week of 6/3-6/7

This week, the third grade will…

  • Continue to review, both in and out of school, for the ELA Final using our comprehensive Review Packet.
  • Continue to review, both in and out of school, for the Math Final using our comprehensive Review Packet.
  • Review for our Religion Final with an interactive trivia game.
  • Complete a Unit 1 (Chapters 1-3) Science Review Packet using our textbooks.
  • Finalize our “Third Grade Times” newspaper projects as a wrap-up of the school year.
  • Review for our Social Studies Final with an interactive trivia game.
  • Take the Grade 3 Religion Final.
  • Use our June Storyworks Jr. edition and its multitude of resources to strengthen our reading comprehension skills.
  • Participate in Spirit Day!

  • Religion Final Exam- Thursday, 6/6

Homework for the week:

*Please note: Homework will be very light this week. In addition to the assignments below, students should be reviewing old tests and quizzes and other materials from throughout the year to prepare for the final exams. Next week is a big week, but if a little bit of studying and preparing each night starts now, it will avoid cramming for a final and the frustration it brings the night before an exam. The homework assignments below will not include when to study, as it should be done each night going forward, but you will be reminded of an upcoming final the day before.*

Monday:

ELA- Complete the “Parts of Speech: Nouns vs. Adjectives” activity in the ELA Final Review Packet.

Math- Complete page 129 in the Math Final Review Packet.


Tuesday:

ELA- Complete the “Adjective or Adverb?” activity in the ELA Final Review Packet. (Be sure to complete both the front and back!)

Math- Complete page 132 in the Math Final Review Packet.


Wednesday:

ELA- Complete page 1 of our additional Adverb Practice Packet.

Math- Complete page 139 in the Math Final Review Packet.

Religion- Religion Final Exam tomorrow.


Thursday:

ELA- Complete pages 3-4 of our additional Adverb Practice Packet (front and back).

Math- Complete page 101 in the Math Final Review Packet.


Friday:

  • Continue reviewing for your final exams. Gather your old tests and quizzes!
  • Religion books, Grammar books, Vocabulary books, and ELA, Science, Social Studies, and Math notebooks can stay HOME. Use them to review for your finals.
  • Science and Social Studies textbooks have been sent home for studying. They are due BACK the day of their final.
  • Go Math workbooks have been sent home but I ask that VOLUME 2 ONLY be sent back in the day of the Math final. We will be doing some additional practice in them to strengthen our math skills in preparation for fourth grade.
  • *I am missing some signed & corrected tests/quizzes from the last few weeks. Please make sure I see these by Monday, 6/10 as they affect your homework grades. They will not be accepted past 6/10.*

Grade 3: Week of 5/28-5/31

This week the third grade will…

  • Begin Spelling Unit 14 (our final week of Spelling!)
  • Continue to practice our Reading Comprehension skills using a variety of resources.
  • Review what we know about Fractions and prepare for a quiz (our last Math assessment before the Final Exam).
  • Review Science, Chapter 4 and prepare for a Chapter test (our last Science assessment before the Final Exam).
  • Continue collecting our thoughts and memories as we write for our own newspaper, “The Third Grade Times.”
  • Finalize Religion, Chapter 9 with an Open-Book Quiz.
  • Sing and participate in The Wizard of OLGCA.
  • Begin our Math and ELA Review packets. ** Be sure to send those two packets back to school every day with your child! **

  • Math, Chapter 8: Understand Fractions Quiz- Wednesday, 5/29
  • Science, Chapter 4 Test- Thursday, 5/30

Social Studies- Continue working on your Country Study Project (due Friday, 5/31).


Wednesday:

ELA-

  • Spelling- Write sentences for words #11-15 of Unit 14.
  • Reading- Complete the Grammar practice in Reading Comprehension packet.

Math- Complete pages 1 and 2 of the Math Final Review Packet.

Science- Study for your Chapter 4 Science Test.

Social Studies- Continue working on your Country Study Project (due Friday, 5/31).


Thursday:

ELA-

  • Spelling- Write Unit 14 words 3x each and study for your quiz.
  • Reading- Complete the grammar page “Parts of Speech: Nouns vs. Verbs” of the ELA Final Review Packet.

Math- Complete pages 42, 44, and 108 of the Math Final Review Packet.

Social Studies- Country Study Projects due tomorrow!


Friday:

  • PLEASE leave the ELA and Math packets in your red folders as those have activities to complete that we will be continue to work on in school and at home. They will be sent home over the weekend to help you begin to review for your finals. In addition, if there are any answers you need to correct, please do so by Monday!
  • Begin reviewing for your final exams. Gather your old tests and quizzes!
  • Religion books, Grammar books, and Science and Social Studies notebooks can stay HOME. Use them to review for your finals.
  • Start to especially review for your Religion Final next Thursday, June 6th. We will be playing review games next week.
  • *Sign & correct tests/quizzes returned throughout this past week by Monday, 6/3.*

  • Begin Vocabulary Unit 13.
  • Continue reviewing Grammar Unit 6 in preparation for an exam.
  • Practice their reading comprehension skills using a variety of resources.
  • Continue with Math, Chapter 8: Understand Fractions.
  • Complete an open-book quiz on Religion, Chapter 8: The Church Has Four Marks.
  • Begin Religion, Chapter 9: The Church Teaches Us.
  • Begin to review Science Chapter 4 in preparation for an exam next week.
  • Complete their third and final Renaissance assessments in both Math and Reading.

Tests/Quizzes this week:

  • Grammar, Unit 6- Wednesday, 5/22
  • Vocabulary, Unit 13- Thursday, 5/23

Homework for the week:

Monday:

ELA-

  • Vocabulary- Complete the Match the Meaning activity on page 134.
  • Grammar- Complete Lesson 50 in the Unit 6 Review Packet.
  • Reading- Read “Money Means Worries” and complete pages 7-11.

Math- Log onto ThinkCentral and complete the posted assignment.


Tuesday:

ELA-

  • Vocabulary- Complete the Synonyms & Antonyms exercise on page 135.
  • Grammar- Study for your Unit 6 Test. Use our Grammar workbook and the review packet we’ve been working on.
  • Reading- Complete the Grammar practice in the Reading Comprehension packet, pages 17-18.

Math- Log onto ThinkCentral and complete the posted assignment.


Wednesday:

ELA-

  • Vocabulary- Study for your Unit 13 Vocabulary Quiz.

Math- Complete the Comparing Fractions worksheet. Use a crayon when asked to color and draw pictures to help you solve the problems.


Thursday:

  • REVIEW SHEETS/PACKETS have been distributed. PLEASE leave the ELA and Math packets in your red folders as those have activities to complete that we will be doing in school and at home. Religion, Social Studies, and Science review sheets may stay home.
  • *Sign & correct tests/quizzes returned throughout this past week by Tuesday, 5/28.*
  • Social Studies Country Projects Due Friday, May 31st!
